This page provides instructions and tips for quickly assessing the quality of the imaging or spectroscopic data being obtained.

 

To display the 6th, merged, extension, in ds9, append [6] (linux) or \[6\]or "[6]" (macOS) to the filename, for example:

lbto@robs2% ds9 mods1r.20260415.0008.fits[6]

or

MacBook-Pro% ds9 mods1r.20260415.0008.fits\[6\]

MacBook-Pro% ds9 mods1r.20260415.0008.fits"[6]"

 

To display all extensions in individual frames, either:

• Use the multiframe option in the command line (ds9v8.6, this used to be mef):
  • ds9 -multiframe mods1r.20260415.0008.fits
• or if ds9 is open, from the File menu at top left, select Open As -> Multiple Extension Frames
