As a non-facility instrument, LBTI requires support of the instrument team to carry out observations. LBTI observations are executed in queue to afford them maximum flexibility and guarantee the proper execution support is available.
A minimum of 2 instrument support are required for single sided observation, and 3 for double sided. Observations require and AO operator for each telescope used for the observation, a science camera operator, and a PhaseCam operator if that is used for the particular observing mode. Expert users may be allocated classical time for programs in which they can come and can assist with observation or take the place of a science camera operator.
The Software and Scripts page will take a user through the typical tools available to the operators for those interested. Additional information and details can be provided upon request.
