About
Jason Chu joined LBT as an Instrument Support Astronomer in 2023. He received his Ph.D from the University of Hawai`i at Manoa in 2017 with the thesis title “A Multi-Wavelength Study of Luminous Infrared Galaxies Across Cosmic Time” under Dr. David Sanders. He has spent many nights observing at the Maunakea Observatories on the Big Island of Hawai`i, including Gemini North, Keck, and Subaru. Before arriving at LBTO, he was flying science missions as an Instrument Scientist for the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA). On the side, Jason is an avid photographer with a particular interest in time lapses, landscapes, and night photography, some of which have been featured in documentaries and publications.
