About
Christian started his career as astronomer at Observatoire de la Côte d’Azur in 1980, where he initially worked on the satellites of Uranus for the preparation of the Voyager fly-by and ended running the French Lunar Laser Ranging program. In 1996, he moved as Resident Astronomer to CFHT (Maunakea, Hawaii), which he led as Director from 2003 to 2012. Christian joined LBTO as Director (2013-2012), retired in early 2014, and continues to contribute to LBT as University of Arizona DCC. Christian is currently working on image quality monitoring at the LBT prime focus, where the LBCs sit, and on the deployment of new or upgraded turbulence monitoring equipment on Mt Graham (DIMM, RINGSS turbulence profiler, Polaris monitor) in collaboration with the ALTA team (Arcetri) running the seeing predictions for Mt Graham.
