Observation Element
The Observation Element is accessed by selecting the observation component in your science program, and is shown above.
In the Observation Name field, users can set the name of their observation. It is usually helpful to include descriptors like the instrument, object, and mode (imaging, long-slit, mos) in the title, to make it easier to distinguish each observation when they are collapsed in the tree.
The relative Priority of this observation, compared with other observations in the same science program, is set using the High/Medium/Low buttons. Currently, this function is only a helpful aid to the service observers who may be looking through your program and will not carry into your final scripts.
The Script Generation features are discussed on the OT Scripting Basics page. An Observation ID may appear in the labeled field when a new script is generated.
